can't stop watching the PRADA spring/summer 2011 campaign

it makes me so happy!

so new york finally forced me to buy snow boots.

my dainty Loeffler Randall rain booties were not cutting it up here in the tundra. i fought the mad crowds yesterday in the outdoor stores and finally found my size in this Sorel boot. kind of cute kind of not. but nonetheless i am no longer afraid of snow mountains and deep black puddles.

patti smith. just kids

i finished reading Patti Smith's memoir Just Kids this weekend. it has to be one of my favorite books of all time. she offers such a poetic look into her life with Robert Mapplelthorpe in a time when they were  young. inseparable. perfectly bohemian. and completely unknown. its a novel about growing up & traversing the artistic and political scenes of new york city during the late 60's and early 70's.

"Yet you could feel a vibration in the air, a sense of hastening. It had started with the moon, inaccessible poem that it was. Now men had walked upon it, rubber treads on a pearl of the gods. Perhaps it was an awareness of time passing, the last summer of the decade. Sometimes I just wanted to raise my hands and stop. But stop what? Maybe just growing up."

 i went to see warhol's films at the moma last night. 

a collection of 14 silent screen shots of people such as edie sedgwick, nico, baby jane holzer, dennis hopper, lou reed, & allen ginsberg. they exhibit warhol's fascination of celebrity & his rethinking portraiture in the 1960's. 

my favorite was of edie...looking more vulnerable than usual.

i was thinking if people were rain, i was drizzle & she was a hurricane.
